My classroom is D - O - N - E !!!
This is the window into my classroom from the hall. I am going to put up owls with all the students' names on them. |
This is what you see when you walk through the door. |
Looking at the front. |
Our doorway. The tape on the floor outlines the "No Bodies" zone when lining up or at carpet time. |
Computer Center. I love the owls! |
Work is turned in here (I have two classes). Behavior Chart & Homework Calendar. |
I will ask my kiddos to highlight their name before they turn in their paper. Hoping this will cut down on "no name" papers. |
LOVE my owl posters from Teaching Fourth's TPT Store. The behavior chart above is also from her store (free!). The colored dots were in the clearance shelves at Walmart. |
This is our class store and treasure chest for rewards. |
I found these free clock labels at Amy Forney's TPT Store. |
This is my desk. I have my Teacher Toolbox nearby....still needs a few more labels! |
My students store their extra supplies in these boxes. |
Here is my Guided Math Chart, Restroom checkout, and class schedule. The magnetic pocket chart for my Math warm-up is from Lakeshore. The "Where Are You?" chart (free) is from I Teach. What's Your Super Power. |
I love my owls! This is where we have floor time. |
This is our class mailboxes. The kiddos put their lunches on these shelve. The containers for the clip boards are from Target |
I'm going in today to hang my number line. I need my 6' 2" husband to help me hang it! Thanks for visiting!

Giveaway & Shopping Tax Free
This is a teacher's busiest time of the year, but there is still plenty of time to enter my 100 Followers Giveaway! Just click HERE to find the Rafflecopter to enter.
My room is nearly finished, but I have to admit that I don't like where I've placed my computer. Doesn't sound like a big deal, right? It wouldn't be if I could just move it. But everything is connected to it and my hubby took the day off to help me place everything so neatly. He said I wouldn't like it and, okay, he was right. I'm hoping our building will be open on Saturday so I can grovel a bit and beg hubby to move it for me. UGH!
This weekend is Tax Free Weekend in many states. If you will be shopping in Texas, here is the very important "fine print" so you don't get caught at the cash register! Happy Shopping!
This information was reprinted from the State of Texas website.
As in previous years, the law exempts most clothing and footwear priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. Backpacks under $100 and used by elementary and secondary students are also exempt. A backpack is a pack with straps one wears on the back. The exemption during the sales tax holiday includes backpacks with wheels, provided they can also be worn on the back like a traditional backpack, and messenger bags. The exemption does not include items that are reasonably defined as luggage, briefcases, athletic/duffle/gym bags, computer bags, purses or framed backpacks. Ten or fewer backpacks can be purchased tax-free at one time without providing an exemption certificate to the seller.
The following is a list of qualifying school supplies (if priced less than $100):
- Binders
- Book bags
- Calculators
- Cellophane tape
- Compasses
- Blackboard chalk
- Crayons
- Composition books
- Erasers
- Folders; expandable, pocket, plastic, and manila
- Glue, paste and paste sticks
- Highlighters
- Index cards, Index card boxes
- Legal pads
- Lunch boxes
- Markers, including dry erase markers
- Notebooks and writing tablets
- Paper; loose leaf ruled notebook paper, copy paper, graph paper, tracing paper, manila paper, colored paper, poster board, and construction paper
- Pencil boxes and other school supply boxes
- Pencil sharpeners, Pencils, Pens,
- Protractors, Rulers and Scissors

My all time favorite is "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DeCamillo.
This is a story of a child's toy who thinks of no one but himself. Unexpectedly, he becomes lost. His journey, as he becomes the toy of many different owners, teaches him what it means to love and be loved. It characters are rich and the settings easily capture a child's imagination. The children love it, every year!

Does your blog need a makeover? Well, if you've been shopping for some cute designs, you must check out.....
A Bird in Hand designs especially for teacher blogs. Not only are the designs adorable, but they are more affordable than I have seen anywhere. Check them out before you spend the big bucks!

Here is my "Monday Made It"! In my Math Class, we often use dry erase markers. The kids love them but, I wasn't able to find a good solution for erasing. Tissues are wasteful. Old socks got lost. Then, I found this idea on Pinterest.
It's very easy to make. Just hot glue a pom pom on the opposite end of the dry erase marker tip, much like the eraser on a pencil. I'm going to store them in a flower pot to make a cute display.
Thank you, Ovata Bell, for sharing this idea!

Got beach?
Today I got my last day in at the beach before school starts. I don't go in the water. I just like being near the ocean. I was born under the water sign of Cancer the Crab. I think there's something to the zodiac, as I am drawn to the ocean. There's just something about it that calms my nerves. I needed it.
Sooooo, I'm feeling very thankful today. Thankful that I'm a short drive from the ocean. Thankful that my teenage boys decided to spend a day with their mom. Thankful for summers off so I can go to the beach when I want. Thankful for this beautiful day.
